THE STORY OF ECT (EPISODE 6) – LIVE HEAVY METAL ON CHANNEL 4
And
into episode 6 we go and a bit of a glam rock feel to kick off this week’s
episode.
First
up are PET HATE with ‘Wreck The Radio’ and the catchy ‘Girls Grow Up Too Fast’.
PET HATE were formerly known as SILVERWING. Never my favourites, but ‘Girls’ is
a good song. They also did a rather limp cover of ‘Roll Away The Stone’ I
think.
Next
up TARAZARA. Ahh this is more like it. I actually went to see TARAZARA at The Marquee
Club some months later. Fronted by the charismatic Danielz (who has
subsequently carved a successful career as top Marc Bolan tribute T-REXTASY),
TARAZARA had good songs and that was part of the appeal for me, as well as the
fantastic image of course. The great TARAZARA song that you don’t get on here
is ‘Hold Me Tonight’.

On
we go and a great working Heavy Metal band CHARIOT. I also saw them once at The
Marquee Club and they were incendiary. A bit like SAXON if SAXON hadn’t gone
shite in the mid 80s.
And
lastly, building up to a headline frenzy.… bang yer ‘eds to …. umm….errr..
SNOWY WHITE. The ex Thin Lizzy guitarist was probably signed for the show
because of who he was but this was the first real own goal by the ECT producers
(ah well, ok I’ll give you MARINO THE BAND as well). SNOWY WHITE most certainly
did not want to rock and can’t find footage of his ECT performance. Here’s a
typically subdued version of his hit ‘Bird of Paradise’…. Zzzzzzzzzz.
